Since demolition has officially begun, I thought I would share some updates on the bathroom with y’all.
In my last post about bathroom inspiration, I was debating between a light versus dark vanity for this space. Final decision?

We decided a dark navy vanity for the other bathroom and for this one, we’re going with a white vanity! The white vanity just went better with the floor tile and will help this small bathroom feel more open.
In no particular order, my goals for this space are:
1. Update the space to the 21st century. Not kidding. This house was built in the 1950s and this bathroom definitely reflects that in not such a good way.
2. Connect the style of the bathroom to the house overall. I really want to have traditional / classic finishes with a few modern pops in the space.
3. Fix the weird layout and awkward placement of the toilet.
4. Make sure that this bathroom is kid AND guest friendly. We currently don’t have a “master bathroom” so this is our main bathroom and we all use it. It’s got to be a super functional space. That’s one of the main reasons we decided to leave the original cast iron tub. That’s the only element that is staying and it’s even getting a little re-glazing makeover of it’s own.
5. Of course, we are doing this on as tight of a budget as possible. That being said, we are not doing this DIY. We hired a contractor and have been working very closely with him and his team on design and logistics. This is our main bathroom, it’s in the very center of the house, we have a two year old, it’s MAJOR plumbing and electrical work, and we want it completed in a timely manner. No DIY this go ’round!
Although I’m not busting out any tile myself, I’m still very involved in the design process and in the end I know I’ll have a beautiful space to show you!
Here’s my plan:
What are your thoughts? Also, let me know if you like the champagne bronze or the oil rubbed bronze finish on the plumbing fixtures. Here’s a board with the oil rubbed bronze:
Please let me know which finish you vote for in the comments below! Also, I went ahead and included a source list for the items on this design board. Once the bathroom is completed, I’ll do an updated source list in the reveal post. Oh, and in case you were wondering, YES…we will have a toilet. 😉 I just didn’t include one on the design board.

Thanks for following along! Before and after of this space coming soon! Remember to let me know which finish you like in the comments below.
