Hello there!
It’s been awhile. It’s no coincidence that school has started back and here I am on the blog. Yay for school! Can I get an amen from all the mamas out there?!
We are (finally) finishing up our bathroom remodel. Hallelujah! A major project with plumbing, electric work, structural issues, etc. in the very center of the house with a three year old during the summer when you work from home is no joke. Haha! It’s looking good though and really taking shape. Final touches and the bathroom reveal coming soon!
Today, I wanted to share with you something that I’ve been doing recently and, with school back in full swing, it has been incredibly helpful. It makes our mornings smoother and helps me start the day with intention.
I read it (well, listed to it on Audible) about two months ago and since implementing it into my daily routine, I have noticed a huge difference in my level of fulfillment and sense of purpose and accomplishment. I feel more centered, more excited about my life.
The goal is to wake up each day with more energy, clarity, motivation, and focus. To move towards your highest goals and dreams – especially those you’ve been putting off far too long.
Even if you aren’t necessarily a morning person (like myself). I liked the idea of waking up early, but never could seem to actually do it. I felt like I was always dragging myself out of my bed each morning and then rushed and hectic.
After reading / listening to The Miracle Morning, I realized it was more of a mindset shift. Of course, it’s challenging to wake your body up, but it’s more of a mind over matter deal. Now at night, I tell myself that I’m going to wake up energized and ready to go.
Don’t get me wrong – I am a huge proponent of getting enough good, quality sleep. My ideal is nine hours of restful sleep each night! That means getting into bed at a decent hour to make sure that you are giving your body the rest it needs, but also waking up ready to get after it.
The author says, “When you delay waking up until you have to—meaning you wait until the last possible moment to get out of bed and start your day—consider that what you’re actually doing is resisting your life.”
Wow. Truth bomb.
The Miracle Morning asks these important questions:
“When are you going to develop yourself into the person you need to be to create the levels of health, wealth, happiness, success, and freedom that you truly want?”
“When are you going to actually live your life instead of going through the motions looking for every possible distraction?”
Also, to clarify – life happens and this is not a “name it, claim it” prosperity gospel deal. It’s talking about being intentional, leaving excuses and negative lies about yourself behind, and getting after it. Turning those dreams into action steps.
What are you waiting on? What are your goals and dreams? (Be sure to tell me in the comments below.) So many of us have goals and things we want to accomplish, but when are we going to do those? When are we going to become that person who we want to be?
The deal with The Miracle Morning is that you set aside time that focuses on developing every aspect of you as a human being. Physical, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, etc.
It doesn’t have to be some grand thing…and get this…even though the author encourages you to practice this first thing in the morning, it can be done WHENEVER…as long as you are intentional about it. That’s the key point.
You can even do The Miracle Morning in six minutes.
For me, it’s 15 minutes. Just waking up a few minutes early makes all the difference in how my day goes. I’m choosing to get up. I’m choosing how my day will go.
For those of you who have children – waking up for your kids not to your kids. Or wake up for spouse. Or, how about this…wake up for yourself.
Now, I will say this…..sometimes we mess up. We aren’t perfect! Even as I was writing this post, my husband had to work a crazy night shift schedule for a week and it totally threw off our family rhythms. I didn’t do my Miracle Morning and, wow, could I tell a difference! Happy to report that I’m back on track now and loving my mornings.
My biggest takeaways?
- Being intentional
- Investing time – even a few minutes – each day in developing yourself (because when else are you going to be the person you want to be?)
- Positive affirmations (more on this later)
